Introductory literature / Handbooks

The list of literature presented here comprises relevant introductions to research on higher education and science, as well as a number of handbooks on the subject. It presents a diverse range of works produced in this interdisciplinary field, including works with emphases on sociology, organisational sociology and the labour market, and including both theoretically oriented works and empirically oriented ones.

The list has been prepared with the expert support of the pertinent research community and of the advisory board for research on higher education and science (WiHo-Beirat).

Journals for research on higher education and science

The alphabetical list of international journals presented here includes relevant publications in the interdisciplinary area of research on higher education and science. The collection covers a wide spectrum that extends from journals for sociology and labour-market studies to empirically oriented publications.

At the recommendation of the advisory board for research on higher education and science (WiHo-Beirat), only SSCI-listed journals have been included. This criterion has been chosen in the interest of clarity and transparency; it should not be understood as normative.
