LCSS

The Leibniz Center for Science and Society (LCSS), a central institution of the Leibniz Universität Hannover (Leibniz university of Hannover), conducts a diverse range of theory-based, empirically founded research on higher education and science, via an interdisciplinary orientation. The primary disciplines that collaborate at the LCSS include: sociology, political science, philosophy, law and economics.

The LCSS has four main focuses:

  • Analysing the interactions between science and society, using an interdisciplinary approach
  • Systematically linking theory and empiricism
  • Developing links between higher education research and science studies
  • Providing structured graduate training, in the "Science and Society" graduate school

In addition, the LCSS works closely with the university's master's degree programmes in "science and society" and "philosophy of science."

The LCSS also cooperates closely with the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW).
