The Centre for Studies in Science Policy (CSSP) is a combined teaching and research effort, exploring various dimensions of the science-technology-society interface. Though oriented principally as an academic programme, the CSSP is nonetheless also committed to engaging with contemporary policy challenges.

The International Centre for Higher Education Management (ICHEM) is one of the internationally most visible and recognized British research centres on Higher Education. It aims at generating innovative and alternative strategies for higher education systems. Therefore, it puts an emphasis on interdisciplinary research and international integration.

Prof. Dr. Rajani Naidoo is Professor of Higher Education Management and Director of the ICHEM. Her main research interests include Public sector markets and new public management; trans-national higher education and global governance as well as academic profession and students as consumers of higher education.

The Centre for Higher Education Governance Ghent (CHEGG) seeks to understand governance at the system and at the institutional level using in-depth and theory-based research methods from different disciplines. The director of CHEGG, Prof. Dr. Jeroen Huisman, is Professor of Higher Education at the Department of Sociology, Ghent University. His research interests include e.g. organisational change, organisational diversity and higher education landscapes, theory and methods in higher education.

The Research Institute PaSTIS (Padova Science Technology & Innovation Studies) in Italy - founded in 2008 – has dedicated its research to science and technology in a broader sense, including innovation studies, science communication and the analysis of cultural contexts in which science and technology are embedded.

Prof. Federico Neresini, director of PaSTIS and Full Professor of Scociology at the University of Padova, has answered the questions of the WiHo-Editors. His research focuses on various topics of Science, Technology and Society.

The Sciences Po, Centre de Sociologie des Organisations (CSO), is a research institution at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). It is internationally recognized in the area of Sociology of Organizations, and is strongly committed to sociological research on Higher Education and Science. Prof. Dr. Olivier Borraz is the director of CSO and a CNRS research professor. His main research interests include risk governance and crisis management.

INGENIO is a joint institute of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research and the Universitat Politècnica de València. It was created in 1999 to carry out research and teaching on the economic and social implications of science and innovation. Prof. Jordi Molas Gallart is INGENIO's director. His main research areas comprehend Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, Research Evaluation and Military Innovation. He is also the president of the European Network of Indicator Designers (ENID).

Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU) in Norway aims to be a leading European research organization for studies of innovation, research and education at all levels. It collects, analyses and disseminates national statistics and indicators for R&D and innovation and is an active participant in statistical cooperation at the European and international levels.

Dr. Sveinung Skule is the Managing Director of the institute. His main research interests include research policy and research system, education policy and education system as well as governance of education and research.

The Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente in the Netherlands conducts research about higher education policy and governance. In many projects it adopts not only the Dutch but also a supranational perspective.

Director of CHEPS is Prof. Dr. Hans (J. J.) Vossensteyn who provides the WiHo-Redaktion with information about the institute. His research interests comprise, among others, issues of funding of higher education, internationalization and quality assurance as well as study success and dropout.

The Center for Global Higher Education (CGHE) is a research institute in the UK with a research focus on local and global engagement and its social and economic impact. Prof. Dr. Simon Marginson is the director of the CGHE and the research programme ‘Global higher education engagement’. In his research he is particularly interested in policy and system organization in higher education as well as international and comparative higher education.

International research topics and projects are at the core of the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) at Boston College. The diverse international connections and publications are the expression of the belief that an international perspective is needed to foster enlightened policies and practices in higher education.

Prof. Hans de Wit, Director of the CIHE, informs the Editing Office about the profile of the institute and the topics driving its research. His research interests are in the area of comparative and international higher education as well as the internationalization of higher education, with a special focus on Latin American higher education and Catholic universities.
