The Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University, Netherlands, is an interdisciplinary institute that studies scientific research and its connections to technology, innovation and society. It analyses science and innovation systems, and it critically assesses science policy strategies. The special emphases of CWTS' research programme include the humanities and social sciences, bibliometric and scientometric research, and the social impacts of science.

The institute brings together scientists and researchers from a range of different disciplines, including psychology, political science, literary science, computer science and the natural sciences. CWTS is known especially for its bibliometric database, which provides a foundation for methodical research, as well as for its content-focused analyses of the science system.

CWTS offers certificate courses on bibliometric methods, and it supervises master's and doctor's degree theses. CWTS B.V., an affiliated business enterprise, offers a range of commercial services – primarily in the area of research evaluation.
