The Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University, Netherlands, is an interdisciplinary institute that studies scientific research and its connections to technology, innovation and society. It analyses science and innovation systems, and it critically assesses science policy strategies. The special emphases of CWTS' research programme include the humanities and social sciences, bibliometric and scientometric research, and the social impacts of science.

CWTS is known especially for its bibliometric database, which provides a foundation for methodical research, as well as for its content-focused analyses of the science system.
